Drawabox - Lesson 0 and Lesson 1
So, a little over a month ago I started with Drawabox (https://drawabox.com). It's a drawing course, comes highly recommended on Reddit and other places. Has a lot of opponents as well. The course is hard, the titular challenge '250 box challenge' tasks you with drawing 250 boxes, rotated in space (I'm currently working on this, I'm on box 50 out of 250, stay tuned for pictures of that!). The reasoning here being that through repetition, you improve, and gain an intuitive understanding of forms in 3d space. And through this repetition, you increase your marksmanship (steady hand drawing straight lines) and confidence in your marks.
Lesson 0 starts of with the basics: drawing straight lines, drawing ellipses and introduces the ghosting method: ghosting the motion of drawing a line a couple times without actually touching pen to paper, before committing to making a stroke.
Lesson 1 goes into perspective, and how to draw 3d space on a 2d surface. It starts off with drawing boxes with a ruler, before ditching the ruler and going off of intuition and the information that's already on the page.
Each lesson has some homework, here's my homework for lessons 0 and 1. Stay tuned for my 250 boxes!
